Modern Mechanical

PRESS RELEASE | 1019 WORDS | 8 MINUTE READ

Chronoswiss unveils two timepieces that interpret the moon through distinctly modern lenses.
The Lunar Chronograph Aurora and the Space Timer Gravity share a celestial inspiration, yet each expresses it through a radically different mechanical language. One revisits an icon of the collection and brings it into the era of Modern Mechanical. The other ventures into deep space, blending hand-guilloché artistry with cutting-edge dial technology.

A MODERN CLASSIC: THE LUNAR CHRONOGRAPH AURORA

Some timepieces define chapters in a brand’s history. The Lunar Chronograph is one of them. With the new Lunar Chronograph Aurora, Chronoswiss carries this enduring classic into the era of Modern Mechanical, preserving its unmistakable character while giving it a distinctly contemporary presence.

Since its debut in 1999, the Lunar Chronograph has represented a rare and harmonious union of complications: Chronograph, date, and moon phase brought together in a balanced, architectural composition. It has always stood for classical Swiss watchmaking with a bold, independent spirit. With the Aurora, that spirit evolves.

A CLASSIC REBORN IN LIGHT

The transformation begins with the dial. Fully CVD-coated, it shifts from deep green to vivid blue depending on the light, reminiscent of the aurora borealis that inspired its name. The effect is subtle yet captivating, turning every movement of the wrist into a change of atmosphere.

The chronograph center seconds measures elapsed time with clarity and precision, supported by a 30-minute counter and a 12-hour counter. At 3 o’clock, the moon phase introduces a poetic counterpoint, connecting mechanical time to celestial rhythm. A central analog date traced at the outer edge of the dial, while the small seconds at 9 o’clock adds visual equilibrium.

Together, these elements form a composition that feels layered, complex, yet entirely coherent. The white hands glide across the dial with confident contrast, linking heritage to a surface that feels unmistakably modern. Tradition is not replaced here, it is illuminated.

SIGNATURE DESIGN, MODERN PRESENCE

The 41 mm polished stainless-steel case carries the unmistakable Chronoswiss DNA: the iconic onion crown and screwed lugs that have defined the brand for decades. These details anchor the watch in its lineage while allowing the dial to take center stage.

Paired with a contemporary grey nubuck strap, the Aurora gains a fresh, understated elegance. The matte softness of the leather complements the dial’s shifting tones, creating a silhouette that feels refined and bold.

MECHANICAL INTEGRITY AT ITS CORE

Inside beats the automatic Caliber C.755 with a power reserve of 46 hours. Visible through the sapphire case back, the movement reveals meticulous finishing that reflects Chronoswiss’ commitment to mechanical authenticity. Precision here is not an abstract promise. It is visible, tangible, and alive.

The Lunar Chronograph Aurora is not a reinvention for the sake of novelty. It is a careful evolution of a model that has shaped Chronoswiss for over two decades. Classic complications meet contemporary materials, expressive surfaces meet disciplined mechanics.

CHRONOSWISS INTRODUCES THE SPACE TIMER GRAVITY

A NEW DIMENSION OF MODERN MECHANICAL SPACE EXPLORATION

With the Space Timer Gravity, Chronoswiss continues its fascination with the cosmos, not as distant spectacle, but as something tangible, textured, and alive on the wrist. This latest chapter in the Space Timer collection explores one of the universe’s most powerful forces: Gravity itself. Invisible, relentless, shaping everything we see.

The Space Timer Gravity shares the same mechanical foundation as its predecessors, yet its dial tells an entirely new story. Here, space is not illustrated. It is constructed.

A DIAL SHAPED BY LIGHT AND MATTER

At first glance, the surface appears to shift before your eyes. The partially hand-guilloché dial is finished with a color-changing CVD-coating that moves between deep green and oceanic blue, depending on the light. It feels fluid, almost planetary, like an atmosphere seen from orbit.

On the left side, the moon emerges in striking detail. This is not a simple print – it is the result of a sophisticated lasering process. Using advanced technology based on an original NASA photograph from outer space, Chronoswiss recreates the rugged surface of the moon landscape with remarkable depth. The result is a subtle three-dimensional texture that invites closer inspection, like tracing craters through a telescope.

Suspended above this terrain are transparent hour and date rings crafted from ITR2, a high-end composite known for its lightness and resilience. They seem to float, orbiting the dial without interrupting its flow. Beneath them, the exposed gear train is framed by a baby blue bridge that echoes the same hue as the sweeping seconds hand, adding a crisp, contemporary contrast to the cosmic scene. The entire composition feels architectural yet organic, mechanical yet celestial.

A CASE BUILT FOR ORBIT

The 44 mm matte grey stainless steel case grounds the watch with quiet confidence. Its sophisticated finish allows the dial to take center stage while reinforcing the technical character of the piece.

Paired with a light grey nubuck leather strap, the Space Timer Gravity balances modern materiality with comfort and wearability. The tones are deliberate: cool, refined, and forward-looking.

THE ENGINE BEHIND THE COSMOS

Inside beats the Chronoswiss Caliber C.308, a self-winding movement that powers the hours, minutes, date, and moonphase display with unwavering precision. Operating at 4 Hz and offering a 42-hour power reserve, it provides the steady rhythm behind the visual dynamism of the dial.

As with every Space Timer, mechanics are not hidden. They are revealed, integrated into the design as part of the narrative. The exposed elements beneath the transparent rings remind us, that gravity, like time, is both invisible and absolute.

A LIMITED UNIVERSE

The Space Timer Gravity is produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces. Each watch captures the interplay of light across its shifting dial, making every piece feel personal. It is not simply a tribute to space. It is an exploration of forces that shape worlds and movements that shape time. With the Space Timer Gravity, Chronoswiss once again proves that modern mechanical watchmaking can reach far beyond the familiar.
