A New Type Of Watch Fair
Indies.NYC is a community shaped as much by New York City as by independent watchmaking itself. People don’t just come to see watches. They come to connect — to grab a drink, share a burger, catch a live slam, and dive into real horology. No velvet ropes, no glass showcases. Just an open space that feels more like a creative studio hangout than a traditional fair.
The April salon drew over 250 collectors and enthusiasts from across the U.S. — not only for the timepieces, but for a night defined by passion, dialogue, and discovery. It was a celebration of craftsmanship and connection, where the lines between maker and collector blurred. Brands flew in from Switzerland, France, China, and the U.S., but what made the night unforgettable was the energy in the room: people from all walks of life, bound by a shared love of horology. It was also the first-ever exhibition outside Europe for Shona Taine, member of the prestigious AHCI (Académie Horlogère des Créateurs Indépendants), who chose Indies.NYC as the launchpad for her international debut.
“For me, Indies.NYC is about creating a space where watchmakers and collectors can sit down together — not across a glass showcase, but across a table. It feels less like a fair and more like a gathering of friends, where stories, laughter, and passion for watchmaking are shared openly.” Jon Cruys, Belgian founder of Indies.NYC, as well as the founder of RedBar Shanghai and relaunching Chronofixe Watches.
Brand Focus: Rogé Bastide
Founded by Romain Rogé (36, based in Saint-Gorgon-Main, France) and Stéphan Bastide (34, based in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland), Rogé Bastide represents a fresh new voice in independent watchmaking. The two co-founders met in 2018 during their watchmaking studies at WOSTEP in Brittany, France, and began developing their joint project in 2020. They share a common drive to combine sobriety and artisanal finishing in every creation.
At this year’s New York edition, the duo will present a prototype that reflects their vision of horology: handcrafted, exclusive, and refined in every detail.
“We are very excited to present our work at Indies.NYC. For us, it is not only a first step into the American market, but also a chance to share our vision of watchmaking — one rooted in handcraft, sobriety, and passion.”
