Dennison and Collectability return with a second collaborative release that continues their exploration of accessible design-led watchmaking through a distinctly unconventional lens. Introduced as the 2026 Edition Oblique Collection, the latest project reinterprets the familiar Dennison form through asymmetric architecture, geometric dial compositions and a design language rooted in the experimental spirit of 1960s watchmaking.
Conceived through a creative collaboration between Collectability founder John Reardon and renowned Swiss designer Emmanuel Gueit, the new collection expands upon the foundation established by the duo’s first release while moving decisively into more sculptural territory. Available exclusively through a one-week pre-order window, the collection positions itself as both a collector-driven design object and a contemporary interpretation of vintage asymmetry.
A Collaboration Built Around Asymmetric Design
The origins of the Oblique Collection trace back to Geneva, where an informal design conversation between John Reardon and Emmanuel Gueit evolved into a fully realised concept almost immediately.
Inspired by asymmetric watches of the 1960s, the project aimed to create a timepiece that felt emotional, graphic and unconventional without losing wearability or accessibility. Emmanuel Gueit, widely recognised for shaping some of modern watchmaking’s most influential silhouettes, translated those early ideas into a watch that challenges traditional symmetry while maintaining a strong architectural coherence. Rather than redesigning the Dennison identity entirely, the collection reshapes the brand’s familiar case language through a distinctive off-centre dial opening and angular internal geometry.
A Sculptural Interpretation Of The Dennison Case
At the core of the collection is the transformation of Dennison’s established case architecture into a more expressive sculptural form.
The asymmetric construction creates a visual tension between the outer case and the inner dial layout, producing a watch that appears dynamic even at rest. The design intentionally disrupts conventional balance, encouraging the wearer to engage with time through shifting perspectives and changing visual depth.
This second collaboration pushes the concept further than the original release, introducing a stronger sense of dimensionality and a more experimental relationship between case and dial.
Oblique Enigma: Playful And Unconventional
One of the two principal dial executions within the collection is the Oblique Enigma.
Defined by a two-tone composition, the dial combines a blue sunburst centre framed by a metallic diamond-cut border and surrounded by a rich green outer section. The irregular geometry and asymmetric layout create an almost optical movement across the dial surface.
The result feels intentionally playful yet controlled, less focused on symmetry and more on emotional interaction through colour and proportion.
Oblique Vector: Geometry In Motion
The Oblique Vector introduces a more graphic and directional interpretation of the concept. Twelve radiating lines extend outward from the dial centre, creating aity of the Enigma, the Vector adopts a more restrain strong sense of motion and spatial depth.
Two executions are offered: a warm gilt-toned dial accented with contrasting black lines and a monochromatic silver-toned variant paired with blue detailing. Compared to the expressive fluided and futuristic visual identity while retaining the collection’s asymmetric foundation.
Emmanuel Gueit’s Continuing Influence
The renewed Dennison design direction continues to be shaped by Emmanuel Gueit, whose work has long influenced contemporary sports and avant-garde watch design. For the Oblique Collection, Gueit focused heavily on the emotional impact of asymmetry, using imbalance not as disruption, but as a way to introduce rhythm, tension and individuality to the wrist. According to Gueit, the project was never intended to follow traditional expectations of watch design, but rather to create an object that feels visually distinctive and emotionally engaging.
Collectability’s Collector-Led Perspective
For John Reardon and Collectability, the collaboration reflects a broader philosophy centred around enthusiasm-driven collecting rather than exclusivity alone. The Oblique Collection embraces design experimentation while remaining intentionally accessible, reinforcing the belief that compelling watch design should not exist solely within high luxury price segments. That collector-oriented perspective remains central to the partnership’s identity, blending vintage inspiration, contemporary execution and approachable independent watchmaking.
A One-Week Limited Pre-Order Release
Unlike conventional limited editions defined strictly by production numbers, the 2026 Edition Oblique Collection will instead be available exclusively during a one-week ordering period. This approach places emphasis on participation rather than artificial scarcity, while still preserving the collaborative and limited nature of the project. The release also continues the growing trend of independent and design-focused brands using alternative launch models to create more direct engagement with collectors.
