Czapek & Cie Unveils the Promenade Goutte de Rosée
Swiss independent watchmaker Czapek & Cie expands its Promenade collection with the introduction of the Promenade Goutte de Rosée, a new limited edition of 25 pieces unveiled in Geneva in May 2026.
Following the launch of the original Promenade Goutte d’Eau in 2024, the new edition revisits the collection’s signature ripple-inspired dial architecture through a rich green Grand Feu enamel execution housed within a warm 18K yellow gold case. Inspired by the appearance of morning dew on spring leaves, the Goutte de Rosée introduces a more organic and luminous interpretation of the Promenade design language while preserving the refined proportions and asymmetrical small seconds display that define the collection.
A New Interpretation of the Promenade Collection
The Promenade Goutte de Rosée retains the elegant 38mm case dimensions of the original Goutte d’Eau while transitioning from stainless steel to 18K 3N yellow gold.
The polished gold case enhances the warmth and richness of the overall composition while maintaining the understated profile associated with the Promenade collection.
At the centre of the design is the signature ripple-effect dial pattern radiating outward from the small seconds counter positioned at 4:30, creating an optical illusion reminiscent of water disturbed by a single falling drop.
Grand Feu Enamel Dial Crafted with Donzé Cadrans
The defining feature of the Promenade Goutte de Rosée is its handcrafted Grand Feu flinqué enamel dial developed in collaboration with Donzé Cadrans.
The process begins with a 925 sterling silver base dial stamped with a specially designed three-dimensional wave motif created by the Czapek design team. Artisans then apply approximately five layers of translucent green Grand Feu enamel by hand, firing the dial repeatedly at high temperatures after each application. Rather than relying on color gradients, the dial achieves its shifting tonal depth through variations in enamel thickness:
Up to 0.5mm in the deepest recesses
Less than 0.2mm on the raised wave crests
This subtle difference creates dynamic visual depth as light interacts with the translucent enamel surface, producing the illusion of moving water across the dial. Each dial undergoes approximately eight kiln firings and nearly forty minutes of hand polishing before completion.
The Technical Challenge of Green Enamel
According to Czapek and Donzé Cadrans, producing the green enamel version presented a considerably greater technical challenge than the original blue execution.
Green enamel reacts unpredictably with silver substrates, often causing adhesion inconsistencies and surface defects during firing. To achieve the desired result, Donzé Cadrans reportedly tested nearly ten different green enamel formulations before identifying one stable enough for production.
The dramatic relief structure of the dial further increased the difficulty, requiring exceptionally precise enamel application across varying dial depths.
Only four enamel artisans at Donzé Cadrans currently possess the experience required to produce these dials consistently.
Every Dial Is Unique
The production process carries an unusually high rejection rate approaching 50 percent due to the stress created by varying enamel thickness across the dial surface. To complete the final run of 25 finished dials, approximately 60 dial blanks were reportedly required.
As a result of the hand-applied enamel process and slight thickness tolerances, every Promenade Goutte de Rosée dial possesses its own individual character and visual identity. Some dials appear deeper and richer in green tone, while others reveal greater visibility of the wave pattern beneath the enamel surface.
In-House SXH5.1 Micro-Rotor Movement
Powering the Promenade Goutte de Rosée is the in-house automatic SXH5.1 calibre.
Visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, the movement features:
