From Terroir to Timepiece

Trilobe has never made wine, but Château Trente-Deux is built around an appreciation for the craft, patience and sense of place shared by fine watchmaking and great vintages. The new timepiece takes its name from Trente-Deux, the collection introduced a year earlier and named after the address of Trilobe’s Parisian atelier. The number also served as the code name during the development of the Maison’s first in-house movement. With Château Trente-Deux, Trilobe translates this identity into a burgundy-dial expression inspired by the visual language of French wine. The result is a watch that connects two distinctly French traditions through a shared idea: that character comes from origin, patience and obsessive attention to detail.

The First Cuvée

Trilobe introduces Château Trente-Deux with an initial series of 100 pieces, each paired with a carefully selected French wine.
The Maison selected the vintage from among wines that have played an important role in its history, focusing on expressions distinguished by character, sophistication and individuality.
The pairing brings together two rituals.
Wine is poured. A watch is worn.
For the first 100 examples, Château Trente-Deux presents both experiences together, creating an edition designed around the pleasure of sharing time as much as measuring it. Following the initial 100-piece series, Château Trente-Deux becomes part of the permanent Trente-Deux collection.

Trente-Deux: More Than a Number

For Trilobe, Trente-Deux carries a distinctly Parisian significance. The name refers to the address of the Maison’s atelier in the Opéra district, while also representing the internal identity attached to the development of Trilobe’s first in-house movement.
The Château Trente-Deux continues that connection to place. Just as a wine is shaped by its terroir, Trilobe considers its Parisian Manufacture an essential part of the watch’s identity. The Maison’s atelier sits close to Place Vendôme and the Palais Royal, within an area historically associated with French horology.
The location recalls the legacy of watchmakers including Le Roy, Berthoud and Lepaute, linking Trilobe’s contemporary approach to a much older Parisian watchmaking landscape.

The Parisian Terroir

Trilobe applies the concept of terroir directly to watchmaking. A vineyard cannot simply be moved without changing the conditions that give its wine character. Trilobe applies the same principle to its atelier.
Château Trente-Deux follows an estate-like philosophy in which the watch is designed, manufactured, decorated and assembled entirely within the Paris Manufacture.
The result is a stronger connection between the finished timepiece and the place from which it originates.
For Trilobe, Paris is not simply an address. It is part of the watch's identity.

A Burgundy Robe

The defining visual element of Château Trente-Deux is its deep burgundy dial. Rather than treating colour as simple decoration, Trilobe uses the shade as an expression of the wine-inspired concept behind the watch.
A matte sunburst finish radiates across the main dial, creating changing reflections as light moves across the surface.
The result recalls the visual character of wine in a glass, where colour and light contribute to the first impression before the deeper character is revealed. On the wrist, the burgundy surface gives Château Trente-Deux a confident presence while remaining controlled within Trilobe’s architectural design language.

Seven-Part Case Architecture

Trilobe gives Château Trente-Deux a complex case structure built from seven individual parts.
Each component receives its own finishing treatment, creating a layered architecture rather than a single uninterrupted case surface.
The construction incorporates three chamfered tiers and a fluted bezel combining mirror-polished and satin-brushed surfaces.
These alternating textures create a play of light across the case and reinforce the connection to the strata of a wine-growing terroir.

Trilobe extends the watch’s layered finishing to individual surfaces throughout the case.
The satin-brushed lug line provides a clean, controlled transition, while a polished black bevel introduces a sharper contrast and captures light along the case architecture. These details are deliberately subtle. Rather than relying on oversized elements or conventional ornamentation, Trilobe uses surface treatment to create the visual complexity of Château Trente-Deux.

The X-Nihilo Movement

At the mechanical heart of Château Trente-Deux is Trilobe’s X-Nihilo movement. The Maison developed its first in-house movement over a period of three years, establishing the mechanical foundation of the Trente-Deux collection.
Trilobe subjects every X-Nihilo movement to more than 400 hours of testing before it leaves the Parisian atelier. The testing focuses on the movement’s mechanical performance, including isochronism, reflecting the Maison’s emphasis on precision and long-term reliability. The 400-plus-hour testing period also echoes the patience associated with the maturation of a young wine, although the two processes are ultimately governed by very different measures.

A 42-Hour Finish

Château Trente-Deux provides a 42-hour power reserve, giving the timepiece a practical mechanical autonomy alongside its elaborate case construction. The movement’s performance is treated with the same patience and discipline that define the broader Trente-Deux philosophy. For Trilobe, there are no shortcuts in the development of either a movement or a great vintage.

The First 100 Pieces

The launch edition consists of 100 pieces, with each watch accompanied by a selected French wine. This first series establishes Château Trente-Deux as both a horological expression and a celebration of French craftsmanship. After the initial 100 pieces, the model will become part of the permanent Trente-Deux collection, extending the Château Trente-Deux identity beyond its first cuvée.
