On Thursday, June 5, Urban Jürgensen marked its historic relaunch with “Skål and Fejre – Urban Jürgensen: The Next Generation,” a one-night-only celebration at The Barker Hangar in Santa Monica. The event gathered collectors, press, tastemakers, and creatives to toast the revival of the 250-year-old independent watchmaker, now entering a new chapter under the leadership of co-CEOs Kari Voutilainen and Alex Rosenfield. The evening also celebrated the debut of Urban Jürgensen’s first new collection in over a decade with three new timepieces: the UJ-1 Anniversary Watch, the UJ-2 with double-wheel natural escapement, and the UJ-3 perpetual calendar with instantaneous moon phase indication.  

Set within the expansive industrial space of The Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport, the atmosphere fused Nordic minimalism with contemporary warmth as an homage to the brand’s Danish roots and a reflection of its modern evolution. The venue was transformed to echo the brand’s elegant aesthetic and uncompromising craftsmanship, featuring an extravagant façade inspired by the dial of an Urban Jürgensen timepiece. As guests entered the space, the décor mimicked the intricate inner mechanism of a watch itself. The result was a striking and immersive installation that exemplified the Urban Jürgensen brand philosophy: the pursuit of perfection and the passions that drive us are the ultimate celebration of life.  

The night blended horology with culture and creativity, drawing an illustrious roster of attendees including actor and filmmaker Rashida Jones; actor Leighton Meester; actor and comedian Ego Nwodim; actor Nicholas Duvernay; actor and producer Dylan Efron; actor and musician Scout Willis; Kyle Kuzma of the Milwaukee Bucks; Benjamin St-Juste of the Los Angeles Chargers; entertainment executives Jimmy Iovine; TV and film producer David Katzenberg; fashion designers Nick Fouquet and Greg Chait; artists James Turrell and Delfin Finley; models Rocky Barnes, Jasmine Daniels, Jordun Love; stylist Brad Goreski; celebrity videographer Cole Walliser; and creatives Evan Ross Katz and Sophia Culpo.   

Musical performances by U.K. singer-songwriter Sienna Spiro and a DJ set by producer Jason Stewart, a.k.a. Them Jeans, carried the evening into celebratory high spirits. Fashion icon and Urban Jürgensen’s Director of Photography Ellen von Unwerth, who shot the brand’s new portrait series “Time Well Spent,” was also in attendance to capture the evening through her signature cinematic lens.
