A Triple-Scale Chronograph Rooted in Functional Watchmaking

Angelus continues its exploration of purpose-built chronographs with the introduction of the Instrument de Mesures, a new limited-edition model that unites three of the most important measurement scales found in traditional chronograph watchmaking. Combining a telemeter, pulsometer and tachymeter within a single display, the watch reflects the brand's longstanding commitment to creating practical instruments for everyday use.

Produced in two limited editions of 25 pieces each, the Instrument de Mesures builds upon the success of recent releases including the Chronographe Médical, Instrument de Vitesse and the award-winning Chronographe Télémètre.

Three Functions, One Instrument

At the heart of the Instrument de Mesures lies a clear objective: delivering multiple measurement capabilities through a single chronograph hand.

The telemeter allows wearers to calculate the distance between themselves and a visible event by measuring the time between seeing and hearing it. The pulsometer is designed to determine heart rate after counting fifteen heartbeats, while the tachymeter calculates average speed over a measured distance of one kilometre.

Together, these functions transform the watch into a genuine measurement instrument, staying true to the practical spirit that has defined Angelus chronographs throughout the brand's history.

Distinctive Vintage Character

Angelus presents the Instrument de Mesures in two different dial executions. The first features an ebony-black dial accented with blue, orange and cream scales. The second adopts an ivory-white dial highlighted by blue, red and green markings. Both versions feature a finely grained surface and vintage-inspired syringe hands that reference the classic Angelus chronographs of the 1960s.

The 39mm stainless steel case offers balanced proportions and a refined profile, while twisted lugs and a slim bezel ensure the dial remains the visual focal point of the watch.

A Sophisticated Three-Dimensional Dial

One of the defining features of the Instrument de Mesures is its innovative multi-layer dial construction.

To accommodate three separate scales while maintaining legibility, Angelus developed a complex three-dimensional layout. The telemeter occupies the highest outer level, the pulsometer is positioned on an angled intermediate section and the spiral tachymeter scale sits closest to the centre.

Advanced laser-cutting techniques create remarkable depth throughout the dial, allowing each scale to remain visually distinct while preserving clarity and ease of reading.

Powered by the In-House A5000 Calibre

Driving the Instrument de Mesures is the manufacture A5000 chronograph movement, visible through the sapphire caseback.

The manually wound calibre showcases a traditional chronograph architecture featuring a column wheel and horizontal clutch, two hallmarks of classic chronograph construction. Its movement finishing further highlights Angelus' attention to detail, with palladium-treated chronograph components contrasting against 3N gilded bridges.

The result is a movement that not only performs with precision but also celebrates the aesthetic beauty of traditional mechanical watchmaking.

Continuing Angelus' Instrument Legacy

The Instrument de Mesures represents the culmination of Angelus' recent focus on measurement-oriented chronographs. By bringing together a telemeter, pulsometer and tachymeter within a single watch, the brand has created a modern interpretation of the classic scientific chronograph.

Balancing vintage inspiration, practical functionality and contemporary manufacturing techniques, the Instrument de Mesures stands as a compelling addition to Angelus' growing collection of instrument watches and reinforces the brand's reputation for creating chronographs with genuine purpose.
