Cartier Privé: The Tenth Opus
Cartier presents the tenth edition of Cartier Privé, an annual celebration dedicated to reinterpreting the Maison’s most emblematic watch designs. Since its inception, Cartier Privé has brought together collectors and connoisseurs around historic shapes, each revisited with contemporary precision while remaining faithful to their original identity.
For this milestone Opus, Cartier unites three of its most iconic creations in a singular, cohesive vision.
A Platinum Triptych
The tenth Opus introduces an exceptional trio: the Tank Normale, the Tortue Chronographe Monopoussoir, and the Crash Squelette. Each model is crafted in platinum, a material deeply embedded in Cartier’s heritage and synonymous with rarity and refinement.
A unifying aesthetic is achieved through the Maison’s signature chromatic pairing of platinum and burgundy. Ruby cabochon crowns, burgundy leather straps, and subtle dial accents create a striking contrast against silvered opaline dials and blued steel hands.
Tortue Chronographe Monopoussoir
A reinterpretation of the 1998 Collection Privée Cartier Paris model, the Tortue Chronographe Monopoussoir evolves both in scale and detail.
Powered by the Manufacture Calibre 1928 MC, this single-push chronograph integrates start, stop, and reset functions into the crown. At just 4.30 mm thick, it stands as Cartier’s thinnest chronograph movement.
The dial reinterprets signature elements, including beaded hour markers and geometric motifs, while the movement’s refined finishing, visible through the sapphire caseback, emphasises the curved architecture of the Tortue form.
Tank Normale
The Tank Normale revisits a 1934 design with a seven-row platinum bracelet, reinforcing its historical lineage.
The interplay of brushed and polished finishes enhances the architectural clarity of the case, while the manual-winding mechanical movement preserves the purity of traditional watchmaking. This interpretation reflects Cartier’s ability to maintain timeless elegance while refining execution.
Crash Squelette
First introduced in 1967, the Crash remains one of the most radical designs in watchmaking history. For the tenth Opus, Cartier reimagines this icon through a skeletonised construction.
The Manufacture Calibre 1967 MC has been specifically developed to follow the distorted geometry of the case, housing 142 components within an asymmetrical structure. Bridges shaped as Roman numerals define the visual identity, merging form and function.
Each movement is hand-finished using traditional techniques, including hammered surfaces that require extensive manual craftsmanship. Limited to 150 numbered pieces, the Crash Squelette represents a rare convergence of artistic freedom and technical mastery.
Cartier Privé – La Collection
To commemorate the tenth Opus, Cartier introduces Cartier Privé – La Collection, bringing together emblematic designs from previous editions.
These creations share unified design codes: yellow gold cases, golden dials, blued-steel apple-shaped hands, and manual mechanical movements. Each piece is completed with a dark grey alligator strap and a caseback engraved with the silhouette of the watch.
The inaugural selection honours three historic models: the Tank Normale, Tank Cintrée, and Cloche.
A Celebration of Form and Craft
The tenth Cartier Privé Opus reaffirms the Maison’s mastery of shaped watches, where design and engineering exist in perfect harmony. Through platinum craftsmanship, skeletonisation, and refined reinterpretation, Cartier continues to push the boundaries of creative watchmaking while preserving its iconic heritage.
