La Vallée des Merveilles™: A New Artistic Chapter

Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces La Vallée des Merveilles™, a new series of limited-edition capsule collections dedicated to the artistic excellence of its Métiers Rares™ atelier. Drawing inspiration from the beauty and diversity of the natural world, this initiative explores landscapes, flora and cultural symbolism through the lens of high watchmaking craftsmanship.
The inaugural capsule, presented at Watches and Wonders Geneva, features three exceptional interpretations within the Reverso One collection.

Nature as Inspiration

Rooted in the serene Vallée de Joux, the Maison’s heritage has always been closely tied to nature’s rhythms. La Vallée des Merveilles™ extends this philosophy, translating the poetry of landscapes into intricate artistic expressions. From the tropical abundance of Hawaii to the delicate beauty of Japan, the first capsule reflects both the power and fragility of nature captured through exceptional métiers d’art techniques.

The Tropical Splendour of Hawaii
Reverso One ‘Hibiscus Syriacus’

This creation presents an imaginative Hawaiian tableau, where an Akialoa bird hovers over a blue hibiscus flower.

The composition is executed across two levels:

  • A lacquered sky background with engraved wave patterns

  • A foreground crafted in Grand Feu champlevé enamel

Miniature painting, layered enamel work and 24K gold paillonné detailing bring depth and luminosity to the scene. The pink gold case is set with 335 diamonds, with the option of a fully diamond-set bracelet for an elevated jewellery expression.

Reverso One ‘Hibiscus Rosa’

A second interpretation captures the vivid energy of Hawaii through a red hibiscus composition.

This piece combines:

  • Nine layers of enamel to achieve rich, vibrant tones

  • Snow-setting of 489 diamonds across curved surfaces

  • Over 130 hours of Métiers Rares™ craftsmanship

The result is a dynamic interplay of colour, light and texture, reflecting the complexity of tropical landscapes.

The Delicate Beauty of Japan
Reverso One ‘Sakura’

Inspired by the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms, this model depicts a red-crowned crane beside a tranquil lake beneath blooming sakura branches.

Key artistic elements include:

  • Grand Feu champlevé enamel for floral and natural details

  • Snow-setting with diamonds and blue sapphires to evoke water reflections

  • Miniature painting techniques using ultra-fine brushes

The decoration requires over 125 hours of gem-setting and exemplifies the Maison’s ability to merge storytelling with technical mastery.

Métiers Rares™: The Art of Execution

Each timepiece showcases the full spectrum of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Métiers Rares™ expertise:

  • Grand Feu enamel fired at temperatures up to 800°C

  • Paillonné enamel using 24K gold leaf

  • Snow-setting techniques creating seamless brilliance

  • Multi-layered lacquer and miniature painting

These crafts demand weeks of coordinated work between enamellers and gem-setters, resulting in miniature works of art that transcend traditional watchmaking.

The Reverso One: A Refined Canvas

The artistic casebacks contrast with the understated elegance of the Reverso One dial. Featuring mother-of-pearl surfaces, floral numerals and blued hands, the front maintains the purity of the design.

Each watch is powered by the in-house Calibre 846 manual movement, delivering a 50-hour power reserve within a compact, rectangular architecture tailored to the Reverso case.

A Tribute to Nature and Craft

With La Vallée des Merveilles™, Jaeger-LeCoultre reaffirms its commitment to artistic watchmaking. These limited-edition creations, each produced in just 20 pieces, celebrate the harmony between nature, craftsmanship and horological innovation.
