Since its creation in 1912, the Tortue has held a singular position within the watchmaking repertoire of Cartier. Defined by its distinctive shape, the design explores a refined balance between curves and structured lines, an aesthetic that has become emblematic of the Maison’s approach to form.
Reintroduced in recent years through Cartier Privé, the Tortue now evolves into a new collection, reaffirming its status as a connoisseur’s watch while embracing contemporary refinement.
A Reimagined Silhouette
The latest Tortue models present softened, more generous proportions, enhancing both visual harmony and tactile experience. The case lines are rounded to create a smoother, almost fluid sensation on the wrist.
Available in small and mini formats, the collection introduces five variations across yellow gold, rose gold, white gold, and diamond-set executions each expressing a distinct interpretation of elegance.

Cartier preserves its essential signatures while introducing subtle evolutions:
Roman numerals remain central to the dial identity
The traditional guilloché is replaced by an embossed motif, adding depth and texture
The classic railway minute track is reinterpreted as a dotted line, referencing a 1922 archival design
The Maison’s secret signature is discreetly integrated within the numeral X

A yellow gold model with black patent leather strap and sapphire cabochon crown embodies classic restraint
Rose gold and white gold versions introduce diamond-set bezels using a cut-down setting technique, maximising brilliance
Signature details include octagonal crowns set with inverted diamonds and richly coloured alligator straps
At the pinnacle, a platinum LM version set with 46 baguette-cut diamonds represents the Maison’s historic affinity with this distinctive cut. With 3.41 carats of diamonds and powered by the 430 MC hand-wound movement, it captures both technical finesse and opulent presence.
Tortue Panthère Métiers d’Art: Two Icons United
The Tortue evolves further through the introduction of the Tortue Panthère Métiers d’Art, merging two enduring Cartier symbols the shaped watch and the panther.
Crafted within the Maison des Métiers d’Art, this creation showcases exceptional champlevé enamel work. The dial and case middle form a layered composition, depicting the panther emerging through a curtain of rain.
Over 15 enamel tones are used
36 separate kiln firings are required
80 hours are dedicated to the dial, with an additional 50 hours for the case
Gem-set eyes complete the lifelike expression
Presented in two limited editions of 100 pieces each, the models are offered in:
White gold with emerald-set eyes
Yellow gold with tsavorite-set eyes
