A New Chapter in Precision
Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils the Master Control Chronometre collection, marking a significant evolution in the Maison’s long-standing pursuit of precision. Rooted in over 190 years of horological expertise, this new collection introduces a contemporary design language anchored by a fully integrated metal bracelet and enhanced chronometric performance.
Debuting with three distinct models, Date, Perpetual Calendar and Date Power Reserve, the collection reflects a balance of technical sophistication and modern elegance.
Heritage Reinterpreted
The Master Control Chronometre draws on eight decades of innovation under the Master name, tracing its lineage back to the 1950s and milestone creations such as the Master Mariner and Geophysic.
A defining influence is the 1973 Master Mariner Chronomètre, whose integrated steel bracelet and progressive design introduced a new vision of relaxed luxury. This spirit is reinterpreted in the present collection, where traditional codes meet contemporary expectations of comfort, ergonomics, and versatility.
HPG: A New Standard of Precision
At the core of the collection is the introduction of the High Precision Guarantee (HPG), a new certification that elevates Jaeger-LeCoultre’s already rigorous standards.
The HPG protocol evaluates fully assembled watches under real-world conditions, including:
Altitude variations up to 1,004 metres
Multi-directional shocks ranging from 25G to 50G
Positional changes simulating daily wear
Temperature fluctuations between 18°C and 35°C
This testing cycle replicates an entire week of wear within three days, ensuring consistent chronometric performance beyond laboratory conditions.
Each timepiece is further certified by COSC, reinforcing its status as a true chronometer.
Design: Integrated and Contemporary
The Master Control Chronometre introduces a refined aesthetic centred on integration and continuity.
The case flows seamlessly into a three-row metal bracelet, creating a unified silhouette. Contrasting polished and satin-brushed surfaces enhance depth, while angular details echo the geometry of Dauphine hands and faceted hour markers.
Sunray-brushed dials, subtly graduated in tone, provide a sophisticated backdrop to the displays. The outer chapter ring includes precise second markings, enabling time reading to the nearest quarter-second a visual affirmation of chronometric precision.
Mechanical Innovation
Visible through a sapphire caseback, the movements demonstrate the Maison’s technical mastery and decorative excellence.
Key innovations include:
Redesigned gear trains for enhanced efficiency within slim profiles
Silicon escapement for improved durability and resistance to magnetism
High-frequency 4 Hz balance for superior stability
70-hour power reserve across all models
Each calibre is finished with traditional techniques such as Côtes de Genève, perlage, bevelling, and polished screw heads, reflecting the Maison’s dual commitment to performance and artistry.
The Three Models
Master Control Chronometre Date Power Reserve
Introducing the new Calibre 738, this model combines power reserve indication and date display in a balanced dual sub-dial layout inspired by the 1951 Futurematic. Housed in a 39 mm stainless steel case, it offers a slim profile of 8.9 mm.
Master Control Chronometre Perpetual Calendar
Powered by Calibre 868, this model presents a complete calendar with moon phase, requiring no manual adjustment until 2100. Available in stainless steel or pink gold, it combines technical complexity with refined proportions at just 9.2 mm thickness.
Master Control Chronometre Date
The most understated expression of the collection, this model features a clean date display within a 38 mm case. Powered by Calibre 899, it offers versatility and elegance in both steel and pink gold variations.
A Contemporary Expression of Haute Horlogerie
The Master Control Chronometre collection reflects Jaeger-LeCoultre’s ability to evolve traditional watchmaking into a modern context. By combining integrated design, advanced chronometric testing, and refined aesthetics, the collection establishes a new benchmark for contemporary high watchmaking.
