PRESS RELEASE | 820 WORDS | 8 MINUTE READ
New York, NY and Milan, Italy (May 28, 2025) – UNIMATIC and Massena LAB reunite up to announce the launch of the new Modello Quatro UT4-SPT “NASA Artemis II”, a rugged, 40mm toolwatch with a NASA-signed dial and a Cerakote™-coated stainless steel case in “NASA Artemis” burnt orange. For the first time for both UNIMATIC and Massena LAB, the watch will be made available to order in a time-limited fashion, facilitating widespread and unbiased distribution of the timepiece with a pre-order window starting May 28, 2025, at 11:00am EDT (17:00 CEST) for a period of 48 hours.

The UNIMATIC x Massena LAB UT4-SPT is a purpose-built tool watch engineered to meet the rigorous demands of an active and adventurous lifestyle. Featuring a robust, reliable movement protected by an in-house designed 360° protection system, the UT4-SPT is housed in a stainless steel case boasting 300 meters of water resistance. Tested to meet the durability benchmarks of the MIL-STD-810H military standard, the ruggedness of the UT4-SPT echoes NASA’s engineering spirit: built for the extremes of space exploration and grounded in purposeful design.
Much like the U1-SPG, UNIMATIC and Massena LAB’s previous collaboration (and the predecessor to the UT4-SPT), this watch features a Cerakote™-coated case in the same distinctive burnt orange hue as NASA’s next-generation Space Launch System (SLS) heavy-lift rocket. Designed to withstand the harshest conditions, the SLS will power all upcoming Artemis missions, which aim to send the first crewed spacecraft to the Moon since the Apollo missions, which ended in the early 1970s.
The next mission, Artemis II, is scheduled for April 2026 and will mark the first crewed mission aboard NASA’s SLS rocket. Artemis II aims to explore the uncharted South Pole region of the Moon, setting the stage for humanity’s first permanent settlement on its surface. Future Artemis missions are focused on an even more daring goal: bringing a crewed mission to Mars and exploring the Red Planet.
Finding inspiration in the pioneering spirit of NASA’s Artemis program, the UNIMATIC x Massena LAB UT4-SPT is designed to reflect the same sense of determination and exploration. The watch features a cool, grey dial signed with NASA’s red “worm” logo, the official NASA emblem from the 1970s until the early 1990s. Large plots of warm Super-LumiNova® in Old Radium mark each hour, while the same material is used to fill the hour and minute hands, as well as the rear tip of the "reverse lollipop" second hand, ensuring optimal visibility in low light. The dial trims and the hands of the UT4-SPT are black, while the second hand is tipped in red, matching the NASA logo.
The Cerakote™-clad case of the UT4-SPT is complimented by a fixed bezel, a Cerakote™-coated, screw-down crown, and a durable, nylon strap with a buckle clad in Cerakote™––all in the same tone of burnt orange. Cerakote™ is a durable, anti-corrosive, ceramic-based coating, designed to protect against harsh environments and is widely used in the aerospace industry. Over time, the 40mm case of the UT4-SPT will show subtle signs of wear, with patches of Cerakote™ giving way to reveal the stainless steel beneath, adding character and enhancing its rugged appeal.
The closed, stainless steel caseback of the UT4-SPT is the engraved emblem of the NASA Artemis program, which depicts the letter ‘A’ rising from the Earth into the atmosphere and beyond. Each watch in this time-limited edition will be individually numbered.
The watch is powered by a high-beatrate quartz movement, the Seiko VH31A. The movement features a sweeping seconds hand, 2 jewels, and a power reserve of approximately two years. Surrounding the movement is the King Red 360° protection system, designed in-house by UNIMATIC to the highest standards. The watch has been tested in the U.S. MIL-STD-810H, a military standard that outlines a series of tests to evaluate the environmental durability and ruggedness of equipment, first developed by the United States Department of Defense.
The launch of the UT4-SPT “NASA Artemis II” follows the success of the March 2025 release of the UNIMATIC x Massena LAB U1-SPG—a limited edition of just 99 pieces that sold out quickly and generated a substantial waiting list. For the UT4-SPT, UNIMATIC and Massena LAB took a different approach, choosing a time-limited release to make the watch more accessible. This strategy aims to level the playing field, giving all interested buyers a fair chance to secure the watch. Further, depending on the success of the release, additional batches will be considered in the future.
Launching on Wednesday, May 28, at 11:00am EDT/17:00 CEST, the UT4-SPT “NASA Artemis II” will be sold by both UNIMATIC at www.unimaticwatches.com (€595 ex-VAT) and Massena LAB at www.massenalab.com (US $650) for a period of 48 hours ending Friday, May 30 at 11am EDT/17:00 CEST.
Each watch is presented in a burnt orange UNIMATIC tough pouch, with a NASA Velcro patch, and a warranty card with a unique ID seal.
