Blancpain Lady B: A Mechanical Jewel Celebrating 70 Years of Ladybird
Marking seven decades of the Ladybird collection, Blancpain introduces the Lady B, a compact mechanical timepiece that combines sculptural design with the manufacturer’s tradition of movement miniaturisation.
Blancpain introduces the Lady B, a new addition to the Ladybird collection inspired by the 1956 Ladybird Bullet. Developed under Betty Fiechter, the first woman to lead a Swiss watch manufacturer, the original Ladybird established a milestone in mechanical miniaturisation.
The contemporary Lady B revisits that legacy through a spherical 19mm case, an automatic in-house movement and a double-tour leather strap. Available in stainless steel or 18K red gold, it presents mechanical watchmaking through the proportions and presence of a jewel.
A Spherical Design Inspired by the 1950s
The Lady B draws on the rounded, organic forms associated with mid-century design. Its spherical case measures 19mm in diameter and 13.2mm in thickness, with a total volume of just 2.9cm³.
Rather than reproducing the historic Ladybird Bullet, Blancpain reinterprets its underlying design philosophy. The two-part case conceals its construction through carefully integrated surfaces and hand-finished polishing, creating the appearance of a continuous sculptural form.
The watch features a warm beige opaline dial, gold applied hour markers and polished hands. An integrated strap passage replaces conventional lugs, allowing the leather strap to flow directly through the case.
Manufacture Calibre 615
Powering the Lady B is Blancpain’s automatic Manufacture Calibre 615, a compact mechanical movement measuring 15.7mm in diameter and 3.9mm in thickness.
The movement comprises 180 components and 29 jewels, operates at 3Hz (21,600 vibrations per hour) and provides a 38-hour power reserve. Its silicon balance spring and Côtes de Genève decoration reflect the manufacture’s focus on technical refinement and traditional finishing. Consistent with Blancpain’s longstanding commitment to mechanical watchmaking, the Lady B is powered entirely by an automatic movement.

A Double-Tour Leather Strap
The double-tour calf leather strap wraps twice around the wrist, reinforcing the watch’s jewellery-inspired character. Seven colours are available: white, beige, mocha, burgundy, blue, coral and purple.
The strap passes through an opening machined directly into the case, eliminating conventional lugs and preserving the design’s uninterrupted silhouette. Its interchangeable construction allows the watch to take on different expressions through colour. The Lady B is offered in polished stainless steel or 18K red gold and is not a limited edition.
A Legacy Shaped by Betty Fiechter
The Lady B pays tribute to Betty Fiechter’s contribution to Blancpain and the development of mechanical watches for women. Having joined the manufacture as an apprentice in 1912, Fiechter later became its owner and leader, helping shape the brand’s technical and creative direction.
The original Ladybird Bullet, introduced in 1956, was distinguished by the R52/R55 calibre, recognised for its exceptionally compact dimensions and robust construction. The new Lady B carries this heritage forward through contemporary case architecture and the miniaturised automatic Calibre 615. Rather than serving as a direct reissue, the Lady B continues the collection’s founding idea: a small-scale object that remains uncompromisingly mechanical.
Availability
The Blancpain Lady B will be available from 17 September 2026 through Blancpain boutiques and authorised retailers. Offered in stainless steel and 18K red gold, the collection is not limited in production.
