Girard-Perregaux: Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition
Skeletal Precision in Motion
PRESS RELEASE | 1257 WORDS | 8 MINUTE READ
The Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition celebrates the dialogue between power and precision. Sculpted from black ceramic, its case reveals a dramatic openworked movement, where each bridge, edge, and hand-finished surface reflects a mastery of craft. This mechanical choreography — both exacting and elegant — mirrors the sculptural lines and technical sophistication of Aston Martin’s finest creations.

RECOGNIZABLE—ABOVE ALL
“Aston Martin and Girard-Perregaux are instantly recognizable in their respective universes. What makes both brands so unique is their pure elegance, sportiness, and design codes that remain consistent over time”, said Mr. Marc Michel-Amadry, Managing Director at Girard-Perregaux.
Mr. Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer at Aston Martin, added: “The challenge is always to maintain the excellence that we have always had in terms of proportion, performance and that recognisable, very distinctive image and language”.
These words are not just personal statements—they embody Girard-Perregaux and Aston Martin’s design philosophy. The brand’s supercars are indeed instantly recognizable thanks to their design, which undeniably reflects a keen sense of lines and proportions—an acute ability to perceive and harmonize shapes, contours, and spatial balance, ensuring that every element contributes to a visually striking and perfectly proportioned silhouette.
In this respect, Girard-Perregaux, and the Laureato Skeleton Aston Martin Edition shares this very attribute when it comes to high watchmaking. Indeed, the case and bracelet of this new timepiece subscribe to the iconic design of the inaugural Laureato of 1975. However, when creating this watch, Swiss manufacture opted for ceramic, a material that is seven times harder than steel and very resistant to scratching. Moreover, ceramic is lightweight, hypo allergenic and supremely smooth. Therefore, the iconic octagonal bezel is formed of ceramic and enriched with circular satin finishing, while the ceramic case features horizontal satin finishing. Upholding Laureato tradition, the bracelet is integrated but, in this instance, it is formed of ceramic and suffused with a combination of polished and satin finishes.
Hours and minutes are indicated by skeletonised hands and suspended indexes, all finished in a captivating green coating reminiscent of Aston Martin’s iconic Racing Green, that bestows a green emission in dim light conditions. This timepiece also features a small skeletonised seconds hand, discreetly positioned at 10 o’clock. Everything is therefore carefully considered to ensure peerless readability while simultaneously maximising the transparency of the movement.

UNCOMPROMISING VIEW—ON EXPERTISE
Unlike traditional timepieces with closed dials, this skeletonised model offers unrestricted views of its inner workings, revealing the openworked GP01800 calibre in all its complexity. Through its sapphire crystal and caseback, the wearer can admire components usually hidden from sight: the mainspring in various states of tension, the oscillating balance wheel, the beating hairspring, and the pallet lever engaging with the escape wheel all animate the watch with a captivating mechanical rhythm, while the caseback is adorned with a metallised Aston Martin logo. Every design element has been thoughtfully considered to deliver a compelling and dynamic visual performance.
The in-house GP01800 calibre builds on over 230 years of watchmaking expertise. Indeed, it showcases 55 hand-crafted internal angles — a mark of true watchmaking artistry — and features a black PVD-treated mainplate and bridges, adorned with four refined finishing techniques: bevelling, sandblasting, traits-tirés, and circular satin, all executed by hand. The skeletonised solid gold rotor, executed in the same Aston Martin Racing Green–inspired shade, echoes the tone of the hands, allowing light to flood the openworked calibre, highlighting its architectural depth. Equipped with a variable inertia balance — a superior regulation system — the movement ensures enhanced shock resistance, long-term reliability, and improved chronometric precision. With a 54-hour power reserve, the watch continues to perform even off the wrist. More than a watch, it is a refined fusion of high horology and high performance — a testament to precision, aesthetics, and innovation.

About Girard-Perregaux
A Manufacture of Design and a Manufacture of Movements since 1791.
With over 30 calibres in its catalogue, 80 patents, and a legacy spanning more than 230 years, Girard-Perregaux is a master of Haute Horlogerie.
From its origins, the brand stood out as a pioneer. In 1791, it introduced the idea of a modern integrated watch manufacture, the first of its kind, which would inspire the industry that followed. The founders and leaders of the brand, each in their time, advanced the prestige of the brand through their visionary and forward-thinking spirit.
This spirit led to key milestones: the Three Bridges Tourbillon in 1867; the High Frequency movement in 1965, with a 36,000 vph; the universal quartz frequency (32,768 Hz) in 1971; and the Constant Escapement in 2013, winner of the Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève. Each breakthrough is the result of an in-house team passionate about pushing boundaries while honoring tradition.
Girard-Perregaux is also deeply design-driven. Every element - form, structure, aesthetics - is conceived, developed, and crafted in-house. The Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges, awarded at the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition, was revolutionary both technically and visually.
This philosophy found its purest expression in the Laureato. Launched in 1975 and entirely designed in-house, it draws inspiration from bold designs with symmetrical forms—a signature of the brand—most notably seen in the 14-sided bezel of the 1969 Deep Diver, which would become part of the Laureato’s visual DNA.
Over the years, the Laureato has embraced new complications and automatic movements, evolving while preserving its distinctive identity.
Today, Girard-Perregaux is internationally respected and admired by watch lovers and collectors for its incomparable approach to Haute Horlogerie. It is a name synonymous with sophisticated luxury and timeless aesthetic… A Manufacture that has always remained true to its long and undeniable heritage.
